A Guide to Guy’s Day

Posted by: Laura Hall on June 8, 2022

Hanging out with the guys for a day and need ideas on places to go and food to eat? Look no further because Festival Country has you covered, and you won’t be disappointed.

Let’s get real, every great day starts with sleeping in as much as you can while still having time for all the fun adventures Festival Country has to offer. Once you get that much-needed rest, head on over to Friends Diner in Whiteland for all-day breakfast that is sure to leave your mouth watering. With homecooked favorites like their caramel banana pancakes or breaded tenderloin, it’s perfect for any time of the day.

While you’re still in town, let loose and have fun at Whiteland Raceway Park for an experience like no other. Get everyone together and race Italian go-karts that go up to 45 miles per hour. If you still want to go but would rather just watch, they offer VIP suites for track viewing.

Before you head out of Whiteland, you also have to stop by Johnson County Axe Throwing and have a friendly competition to see who can hit the bullseye. The coaching staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is great.

Whatever type of food you’re looking for, there are many places to choose from in Festival Country. Specifically, downtown Franklin has a variety of restaurants that the guys are sure to enjoy. If you want the top-voted burger in Franklin, head to the Grill Bar. If you’d rather have pizza or calzones, go to Richard’s Brick Oven Pizza for a unique atmosphere and brick oven favorites. Looking for Mexican food? Try Blue Cactus Tacos & Tequila Bar. For a more in-depth list of all of restaurants, click here.

After dinner, try one (or more than one) of our many breweries and distilleries. These local spots have some of the best beer and liquor around. Stay in Franklin to grab a drink at Shale Creek Brewing and enjoy their retractable glass roof. You can also visit Old Towne Beer Hall & Growler Company and try their u-pour system with over 50 beers, wines and cocktails. Check out more of Festival Country’s breweries here.

To wrap up the day, travel down to Edinburgh and get in some fishing or target practice at Camp Atterbury. With 66 lanes, you can ensure you and the guys all have a good time. There are also multiple lakes on the property with 720 acres of available water for fishing. Learn more here.
