EVENT DESCRIPTION

Afghan Traveling Mural Exhibit

Franklin College invites people to see the traveling mural titled August 15, which reflects that date when the Afghanistan government fell ti the Taliban. The mural was create by a muralist and Afghan evacuees.

The mural will be on display at Franklin College in the Elba L. & Gene Portteus Branigin Atrium of the Johnson Center for Fine Arts. An Interdisciplinary Panel Discussion to examine the history behind the mural will take place on April 3 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Henderson Conference Room of the Johnson Center for Fine Arts. An opening reception will follow.

The exhibit, sponsored by the Franklin College Religious Life Department, the Religious Studies Department and the Art Department, is free and open to the public to view during the following hours: April 3 to 7 and April 10 to 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will remain open until 9 p.m. on April 3, and until 8 p.m. on April 5 and 12 to allow the public to view the mural during evening hours.
