Franklin transforming into Halloween Town

Posted by: Leyton Word on October 17, 2019

On October 26, Franklin Parks and Recreations is hosting its 2nd annual Halloween Town in downtown Franklin. Open all day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., participants can partake in trick-or treating from the storefronts of participating local businesses as well as partake in trunk-or-treating, both in the evening! Trunk-or-Treat participants decorate their cars and trunks with fantastic holiday displays to help children gather as much candy as they can in a way that is safe and community driven.

This year, Halloween Town also offers:

• A petting zoo

• A pumpkin painting contest

• A pet costume contest

• Face painting

If you’re a little older and are wondering whether there’s anything for you at Halloween Town, personally, I’d recommend seeing Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands at the Artcraft Theatre at 2 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. A 90s classic, this moving tells the unorthodox and eerie tale of Edward (played by Johnny Depp) and how he struggles as a social outcast due to his bladed hands.

Hosting Halloween Town this year is Sammy Terry, the ex-host of WTTV’s Nightmare Theatre. Sammy is a little creepy, but he is known more so for his quirky personality and playful banter than his horror appeal.

Whether you’re a parent, student, or trick-or-treater looking for the best loot, Halloween Town has something that the entire Festival Country Indiana community can look forward to!
