Franklin College welcomes E. Taylor Atkins, author of A History of Popular Culture in Japan (2nd edition) to campus. He will talk about his most recent book and sign copies at 6 p.m. in the Dietz Center Dining Room, located in the Dietz Center for Professional Development. The event is free and open to the public.
The phenomenon of ‘Cool Japan’ is one of the distinctive features of global popular culture of the millennial age. His most recent book provides the first historical and analytical overview of popular culture in Japan from its origins in the 17th century to the president day, using it to explore broader themes of conflict, power and meaning in Japanese history.
