MEET THE CHEF
Our Table has quickly become one of the hottest spots on the Festival Country dining scene. It’s casual, friendly, yet totally gourmet. Executive Chef Joe Miller, who owns and operates the restaurant with his wife, Ginger, dishes about how the restaurant came to be.
Q: Where did your love of food originate?
A: Being around Sunday dinner with my family, that was probably as important as anything as a child.
Q: How did you get into the business?
A: I started working at IndyAnna’s Catering at age 14. That’s where it all began. She (Anne Kirk) was an amazing, neat lady.
Q: Where did you go from there?
A: Alex Darvishi (who he met while taking a culinary class at Ivy Tech) asked me to join the Indiana Junior Culinary Team to compete…We won state, regionals, and nationals…that changed my life right there. I owe everything to him.
Q: What do you like to eat at Our Table?
A: Whipped potatoes, whatever (meat or fish) is left over at the end of the day…salmon, walleye, chicken, and beurre blanc sauce.
Q: What’s the key to the restaurant’s success?
A: I want to give credit to our team. What I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve tried to create.
