Did you know Butter Sugar Flour Coffee and Pastry Bar was inspired by baking a carrot cake? From there, Owner Kristyna Voris continued her passion for baking and two years later, Butter Sugar Flour was open for business in the heart of Trafalgar. We sat down with Kristyna and learned more about her story.

Q: How did Butter Sugar Flour come about?

A: We started in my house. It started with the carrot cake that was made for my mom for her birthday. We took it to the middle school where she worked during the time and from that we got cake orders. It kind of exploded from there and about two years after that BSF brick and mortar was born.

Q: Where did the name Butter Sugar Flour come from?

A: The name comes from my unique ability to not be able to name things. It’s the three ingredients we use the most.

Q: What is your favorite item on the menu?

A:  My favorite thing is the Pecan Sticky Bun. It’s our cinnamon roll dough topped with our house made pecan sauce. I recommend eating the middle bite first because odds are you’re probably not going to get through the entire thing, and the middle bite is the best.

Q: What are three words to describe BSF?

A: Delightful, delicious, and just maybe a tiny bit of sarcasm.

Q: What’s it like being a female business owner in Festival Country Indiana?

A: I enjoy being a small business owner in Johnson County, not only for Festival Country and all of the things they do to promote local businesses, but the other female business owners within the county are genuinely supportive and collaborate with one another to make sure we all succeed, which is refreshing.
