The Woman Behind Take Root Country Store

Posted by: Taylor Tyndall on March 5, 2025

It all started with a passion for miniature plant rooters. Jackie Eanes, co-owner of Take Root Country Store, and her husband Scott have been business owners of Take Root in Old Town Greenwood for more than 20 years. We sat down with Jackie and got to know more about her story.

Q: How did Take Root Country Store come about?

A: We got our name Take Root Country Store because of our very first product. My husband who is the entrepreneur, plus green thumb, found these mini vase plant rooters in Nashville, IN. He fell in love with them. We bought a couple and took them home and before we knew it we were looking into information on selling them. So, our name, Take Root Country Store, came from the plant rooter.

Q: What are three words to describe Take Root Country Store?

A: One I would say is relaxing because we have a lot of customers come in, even if they’re having a bad day, they’ll just come in here and walk around. They hear our music, they smell the candles and they say it just makes them feel better, so we like to see our customers come in and feel better. Which leads me to another thing that describes us is family because being a business for 29 years we have customers that we have known for 29 years. They have had children come back and shop with us, so it kind of feels like our customers are our friends and family. A third word I would say is probably inspire because we like to make displays that inspire you for your home decorating and make it easy for you to take these things home and put them together in your home.

Q: What is your favorite product that you sell?

A: One of my favorite products that we carry at Take Root Country Store is another local Indiana company, Bass Farms. They make goat milk products, skin care products, and I use most of it, like the shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, Triple B hydrating lotion, and their Fountain of Youth eye serum. There’s so much to their line that I love, so it’s a perfect addition to our store.

Q: What’s it like being a female business owner in Festival Country Indiana?

A: I enjoy being part of Festival Country because we love the business owners here, the business interaction, and the events that take place in Festival Country. We love that Festival Country Indiana helps support these businesses and promote the events because it helps all of our businesses grow, expand and gain more traction from even outside visitors.
