United States of America's 250th

Celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary in Festival Country Indiana, the place that's known for life, liberty and the pursuit of fun. 

Here you will find:

*A special exhibit featuring a giant neon American flag and a Statue of Liberty photo opportunity, and a giant Declaration of Independence (which you can sign) at the Festival Country visitor center, located at 66 S. Water St., Franklin

*Limited-edition 250th posters, ornaments and puzzles at the visitor center.

Events:

Our community will host special parades, festivals and other events to celebrate the 250th. Click here for a list of all the events in Festival Country.

On June 26, there will be a Freedom Gala at Church on Jefferson in Franklin featuring a gourmet dinner, live music by Boogie Nights Band, dancing, a photo booth, drinks and more. Click here for tickets.

On June 27, Trafalgar will host an America's 250th Celebration at its new amphitheater (335. Pleasant St., Trafalgar). The event will include a parade, live music, photo opportunities, food vendors and more.

Throughout the year, Johnson County Public Library will host events for America's 250th. The Voices of a Nation: America 250 concert series will take place on June 29, July 25 and Sept. 3 at the Trafalgar Community Amphitheater, 335 Pleasant St., Trafalgar. Click here for the full list.

Go to the Semiquincentennial Celebration on June 29 at 6:30 p.m. to learn historical facts about Johnson County and the United States of America, presented by museum director David Pfeiffer. From historical storytellers to special exhibits, the Johnson County Museum of History will host events throughout the summer and fall. Click here to view its calendar.

Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a sweet treat at the America’s 250th Birthday Ice Cream Party on July 3 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Greenwood Park Mall.

On July 4, the Edinburgh Aquatic Center will hold a Fourth of July Party to celebrate America's 250th anniversary with special concession treats, games and prizes every hour, and DJ music. Admission is a $1 for everyone.

Franklin College will commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary this fall with a free Constitution Day Convocation featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning author, presidential historian and commentator Jon Meacham, one of America’s foremost public intellectuals. Meacham’s lecture will take place on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in Spurlock Center on the Franklin College campus.
